St. Louis Local News - KSDK

February 17, 2011 (Hazelwood, MO) - Local newsperson Heidi Glaus came to BIGFOOT on Wednesday to do a short story on how monster trucks are transported.  Heidi answers local questions for KSDK from fans about all kinds of things, and monster trucks came up.  So, naturally, BIGFOOT was the next thought, and who better to explain how things work than Jim Kramer.  To watch the video and read the news story, please go to:  http://www.ksdk.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=244473

2011 Week 4: January is in the Bag!

(Hazelwood, MO) Team BIGFOOT wrapped up the month of January this past weekend, picking up wins in Madison, WI; Salisbury, MD; and Lubbock, TX. All totaled, the team’s five race trucks amassed an impressive 23 racing wins, 19 wheelie contest wins, 16 freestyle wins, and 2 long-jump contest wins in the month of January alone - what a way to start 2011!

Dan Runte and the Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT (#16) have been thrilling crowds in the western states since the beginning of January. He gave another strong showing at the Monster-X Tour event in Medford, OR over the weekend, and will wrap up his west coast tour this weekend in Redmond, OR at yet another Monster X-Tour gig. Expect to see him back in the Midwest for a few weeks soon! Check out the Monster X-Tour folks online at www.monsterxtour.com.

Rick Long in the E3 Spark Plugs BIGFOOT (#15) and Darron Schnell in Snake Bite® (#11) worked their way through the competition in Madison, WI, competing in three events for the Monster Nationals tour at the Alliant Energy Center. Long would end up taking a pair of racing victories as well as a freestyle win, while Schnell continued to show improvement behind the wheel of the #11 chassis. Long and BIGFOOT #15 will now head to Champaign, IL for the next event on the Monster Nationals tour at the U of IL Assembly Hall arena. Visit www.monsternationals.com for ticket info. Schnell will shed the Snake Bite body and return to his Firestone digs for his debut on the Checkered Flag Productions tour in Grand Island. More info can be found at www.badboysofracing.com

Eric Tack had the save of the weekend in Salisbury, MD. After hitting a car stack in freestyle during one of the weekend’s three events, Tack’s machine immediately listed hard to the passenger side, and at one point was on its sidewalls and nearly on its lid. Tack, using a combination of throttle finesse and a mixture of front and rear steering was able to guide the truck back up onto all fours with no damage at all! As though this feat were not impressive enough already, this save was completed in a track that was covered in mud from the mud blog classes that had run earlier in the show. Needless to say, traction was at a minimum, but Tack was able to pull it out. By the end of the weekend, Eric had picked up one racing win, two freestyle wins, and three wheelie wins. Tack and the BIGFOOT Bad Boy now head to Loveland, CO for the next stop on their CFP tour. Rumor has it that Larry Swim may be making his return to the seat in Loveland, so keep your eyes out for him! Event info is available at www.badboysofracing.com

“Hot Rod” Rodney Tweedy in BIGFOOT #10 blew through Lubbock, TX like an F-5 twister this past weekend, with the expected results. Tweedy, who has not had the luxury of returning BIGFOOT #10 to the shop at all since the year started, captured a pair of racing wins in the AMP Live Events Thunderslam tour's stop in Lubbock. He now looks to continue his win streak  in Abilene, TX for the next AMP Tour date. Info can be found at www.amptour.com.

Redmond Preschoolers get "Monster" Visit from BIGFOOT

REDMOND, Ore. -- A "monster" known as Bigfoot descended on Redmond Tuesday, making a stop at a pre-school, with a special present -- 175 of them, to be exact. The world-famous monster truck, "Bigfoot," stopped at NeighborImpact's Head Start school. A group of preschoolers came out to get a closer look at the giant Ford pickup that jump-started the monster truck industry.

And some of the youngsters will be getting a shot to see the truck (and many more) in action on Saturday. The truck's owners donated 175 tickets for the families and kids at Head Start to attend the "Monster X" show at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds' Hooker Creek Events Center."All of the children that we serve here in the Head Start program live in families that are below the poverty level, and these kind of family opportunities are just not available to them,' said Betty Shuler of NeighborImpact. "This will give them an opportunity to spend time together."

Also, people who give non-perishable food at Bend or Redmond U.S. Cellular stores for NeighborImpact's Food Bank can get a limited number of "Pit Party Passes" for this weekend's event. For more information on ticket information, please click here.

2011 WEEK #3: PUTTIN' NUMBERS ON THE BOARD

Photo by The Monster Blog's Ross Z. Bonar

(Hazelwood, MO) Team BIGFOOT continued their relentless pursuit of victory this past weekend in four states, with each truck and driver picking up at least one win, adding to the team’s already impressive tally of victories in 2011.

“Hot Rod” Rodney Tweedy leads things off this week, as he used his BIGFOOT #10 machine to sweep the competition in Lake Charles, LA at the AMP Tour’s annual visit to the LC Civic Center.  Tweedy captured both wheelie contests, both racing finals, and both freestyle wins to cap off a dominant weekend.  Up to this point Tweedy has been storming through his schedule of southern shows like Patton rolling through France, and if the competition expects Hot Rod to let up one bit next weekend in Lubbock, TX they are mistaken.  For more information on the Lubbock event, which is part of the Monster X-Tour, visit www.monstertruckent.com.

Rick Long and BIGFOOT #15 returned to the E3 Spark Plugs Monster Nationals tour over the weekend, shedding his usual E3 BIGFOOT colors in favor of the menacing black and red Snake Bite body.  While the truck’s appearance may have been different than normal, Long’s performance at the Bank of Kentucky Center in Highland Heights, KY (Cincinnati) was standard Rick Long fare:  merciless in racing and on the edge in freestyle, claiming both available racing wins, as well as a big freestyle win on Saturday.  Long switches back to his E3 BIGFOOT colors this week, and continues his march towards a second Monster Nationals championship this weekend in Madison, WI at the Alliant Energy Center, where he will be joined by teammate Darron Schnell in Snake Bite (BIGFOOT #11).  For tickets and showtimes, check out www.monsternationals.com.

Not to be outdone, Bad Boy BIGFOOT (#14) driver Eric Tack (filling in for Larry Swim) picked up a pair of racing wins and a solo freestyle win over the weekend at the Checkered Flag Productions event in Belton, TX, furthering that truck’s chances at winning a third consecutive CFP title.  While Swim inches closer to being able to return to the seat (possibly as early as the February 5th CFP event in Loveland, CO), Tack continues to issue a beating to the competition wherever he goes.  The next stop for the Bad Boy BIGFOOT reign of terror is the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury, MD this weekend.  Visit www.badboysofracing.com for tickets and showtimes.

Rounding out the weekend’s news is Dan Runte in the new Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT (#16), who picked up another racing win over the weekend against a tough field of trucks at the Monster X-Tour stop in Bakersfield, CA.  Runte now moves north to Medford, OR for his third consecutive Monster X-Tour event which promises to be one of his toughest yet.  Tickets are still available at www.monstertruckent.com

2011 WEEK #2: WINS KEEP COMING, SUMMIT BIGFOOT MAKES DEBUT

(Hazelwood, MO) Team BIGFOOT added to their list of wins this past weekend in five different US cities, accumulating a total of 23 wins split amongst 4 styles of competition in what is arguably one of the best starts for the team in the last several years!

The lead story for Week #2 is none other than veteran driver Dan Runte, who accumulated a pair of racing wins at the Monster X-Tour event in Fresno, CA. The event marked the competition debut of the all-new Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT paint scheme atop the BIGFOOT #16 chassis. Runte will resume his quest for victory this coming weekend at the Monster X-Tour stop in Bakersfield, CA. For event info, visit www.monsterxtour.com

After a brilliant series of shows in Salt Lake City two weeks ago, Eric Tack in the Bad Boy BIGFOOT #14 served up a dominant performance in Cincinnati this past weekend at the Checkered Flag Productions event, sweeping every single competition of the 2-day event. Tack won both wheelie, both long-jump, and both freestyle competitions at the historic Cincinnati Gardens venue. Eric has continued to impress as he fills in for 2-time champion Larry Swim, who is scheduled to return to the seat in February after sustaining a back injury last August. Tack and Swim now head to Belton, TX for the next stop on the CFP tour. For more info, visit CFP online at www.badboysofracing.com

BIGFOOT #10 and driver Rodney “Hot Rod” Tweedy put more points on the board this weekend in Ft. Meyers, FL at yet another Monster X-Tour event. Over the course of three events, Tweedy raced his way to a pair of final round wins in side-by-side racing and blasted off to a trio of wheelie contest wins. Rodney continues his tour of the south this weekend in Lake Charles, LA for the AMP Live Events tour. Show info can be found at www.amptour.com

Rookie wheel-man Darron Schnell held his own in El Paso, TX over the weekend at an AMP Live Events show, pushing his Firestone BIGFOOT #11 to victory lane an impressive EIGHT times, with 2 racing, 3 wheelie, and 3 freestyle wins to his credit! Despite Schnell’s competing against a field of experienced drivers, it became clearer as the weekend progressed that the “border war” in El Paso belonged to BIGFOOT.

Rounding out the weekend in Buffalo, NY at another AMP Live Events show was Rick Long in BIGFOOT #15. Despite the frigid temperatures outside the HSBC Arena, Long and BIGFOOT kept the heat on the competition inside, picking up a racing and freestyle win to the delight of the hardy Buffalo crowd. Again with Rick behind the wheel, BIGFOOT #15 will transform into Snake Bite for this coming weekend’s Monster Nationals event, taking place at the Bank of Kentucky Center in Highland Heights, KY (Cincinnati area). For more information on the event, visit the Monster Nationals online at www.monsternationals.com.

Team BIGFOOT Tackles the Competition in Opening Weekend!

(Hazelwood, MO) Team BIGFOOT swung into action this past weekend in four cities, including Salt Lake City; Daytona Beach, FL; Huntington, WV; and Fayetteville, NC.

Returning to the seat for the first time in almost a year, legendary BIGFOOT® driver and multi-time champion Eric Tack headlined Team BIGFOOT’s 2011 debut weekend, not only for the fact that he was returning to monster truck competition once again, but also due to the fact that he made the competition debut of the all-new Bad Boy BIGFOOT III concept while in Salt Lake City for a Checkered Flag Productions event. Filling in for “the original bad boy” Larry Swim, Tack and the Bad Boy BIGFOOT (atop the #14 chassis) put the competition in its place, winning an impressive six out of nine competitions and serving notice to everyone that the new Bad Boy BIGFOOT is in fact, quite bad. Tack returns to the seat this weekend in Cincinnati, OH for the next stop on the CFP tour.

Rick Long in the E3 Spark Plugs BIGFOOT (#15) started his 2011 season in Huntington, WV at the first Monster Nationals event of the year, and he quite literally picked up where he left off last year, capturing a wheelie contest win, both racing wins, and a freestyle win to boot. Look for Long to be a dominant force once again on the famed non-dirt indoor tour. Long continues on to Buffalo, NY for a non-points event at the HSBC Arena, and then jumps back into the Monster Nationals tour the following weekend.

“Hot Rod” Rodney Tweedy in BIGFOOT #10 overcame mechanical issues and parts breakage in Daytona Beach, FL at the Monster X-Tour event, sweeping the entire Friday night event (wheelie, racing, and freestyle) and then picking up another racing win on Saturday night. Tweedy will look to add to his stash of wins this weekend in Ft. Meyers, FL at another Monster X-Tour event.

Firestone BIGFOOT (#11) driver Darron Schnell began his racing career for Team BIGFOOT on a wild note in Fayetteville, NC last weekend, kicking his year off with a wild nose-high race pass that almost resulted in a roll onto the right hand side of the truck. Darron kept his cool and stayed with it, bringing the big red, white, and blue Firestone back down onto all fours. Darron returns to the track this weekend in El Paso, TX for the AMP Tour.

And last but certainly not least, veteran wheelman Dan Runte will make the competition debut of his all-new Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT in Fresno, CA after assisting Eric Tack in Salt Lake City during the first weekend of the year. Runte will look to smash the competition at the Fresno event, which is also a part of the Monster X-Tour.
