Dan Runte
& Team Summit Visit Troops in Germany

November
24, 2010 (Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany) BIGFOOT’s Dan Runte and the other
Team Summit drivers, Jason Line, Warren Johnson, and Rickie Jones, have just completed their second day visiting troops in Germany. The USO
sponsored support mission has taken the team to Kaiserslautern Military Community to visit the stationed troops, as well as many wounded veterans from Afghanistan & Iraq. Each day, a different Summit driver has been blogging about the experience. Today, it was Dan’s turn:
I came into this trip a little leery for several reasons. First, I was the only monster truck driver in a group of drag racers, and even though I know the Summit guys, it’s not only been a while since I’ve been overseas, but I’ve also never been to Germany before this week, so heading into this week I have to admit I was a little nervous. However, as far as coming here, it has been an absolutely awesome experience. Summit and the USO have put this deal together to make it a life experience for each one of us that was fortunate enough to come.
Today was a very powerful day. After having breakfast at the Deutsches Haus, which is actually a German Air Force officers and NCO’s club run by them, we headed over to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, where we met some incredible people. We started in the ICU, where we were greeted by Dee Dee Price, an RN who has been there for five years. The ICU is a 12-bed unit where they receive patients from Iraq and
Afghanistan, with the majority of their patients of late being Marines. They are the first stop for our most severely wounded warriors, with their assignment to treat them before their transfer to hospitals back in the United States.
It is a state-of-the-art facility, with a computer assigned to a station outside each room. Every precaution is taken to protect their patients, including donning a fresh gown and gloves every time one goes into the room, which made for an interesting sight when the four of us did our quick-change routine. We had the privilege of meeting a few of the soldiers, including one who had arrived from Iraq just last night, and all I can say is that it made a huge impression on each one of us.
One item they were most proud to show us was a board filled with messages and news on former patients, including letters of gratitude from parents of soldiers who had not made it home, and it was obvious how much this meant to the staff from how Dee Dee Price talked about it.
We then headed to the 13th Floor, D Section, where the charge nurse was Lt. Olson, an enthusiastic young man who informed us that their patients include American, as well as NATO troops, and that, depending on the severity of their injuries or length of their rehabilitation, their stay could range from a couple days to several months. Among the people we visited were two soldiers from Poland that had actually asked to see us through his translator. In addition, we met a young man from the Republic of Georgia, who had been taught to speak English by the night staff, and had his father in the room with him. Despite the severity of his injuries, we were encouraged after speaking with his doctor, who informed us that his functions had been steadily improving.
Before we left, the head nurse told us of a program where people back in the States make quilts that are presented to the soldiers upon their arrival at the hospital in order to give them a sense of home. It is a tremendous program that I suggest you check out at their website
www.govf.org. More than 30,000 blankets have been distributed, and the nurses wanted to honor our SFA hosts Wayne and Dieter by presenting them with their own quilt in thanks for their efforts with these troop visits, a gesture that truly moved our veteran guides. The four drivers were also presented with a special memento, as we were each given a Soldier’s Angel pin that we will wear proudly.
From 13 Delta, we proceeded to the 23-bed 8 Delta wing, where Capt. Teresa Timms, who just got back from Iraq, took us around to visit with the troops. The best news of the day for me came at 10:21 however, when Wayne called United and learned that my suitcase had finally arrived in Frankfurt, and would be at the main gate in over an hour. Although it delayed my sitting down for lunch, it was great to know I would finally have some clean clothes to wear.

After a quick lunch (which turned into an impromptu autograph session) and a stop by the baggage office, which takes care of the troops personal belongings when they aren’t able to, we made the short drive over to the USO Warrior Center. Unlike your typical USO center, it is not open to the public, but it is instead reserved for the wounded on site. We spent about an hour and a half signing autographs and talking to the soldiers who came over to the facility, including Command Sergeant Major William “Buck” O’Neal, who welcomed us and thanked us for coming to see the troops.
Our official duties ended with another autograph session at the Contingency Aero Medical Staging Facility at Ramstein, who are among the first to see the troops when they arrive, and are the last before they head stateside, prepping them for the flight home.
Throughout the day, the one thing that impressed me the most was the incredible attitude displayed by the both the patients and the medical staff. As we all agreed, these are some awesome people treating some very special folks. It was an extremely humbling day that gave me an even greater appreciation for what those guys do, and the sacrifices they make for our country. I could say my hat is off to those guys, but that would be an understatement. It’s a life changing experience that I’m glad we did, and I would do it again in a heartbeat if the occasion ever arises in the future.
The last event of the day was a tremendous dinner at the Spinnradl, a restaurant located in the oldest building in Kaiserslautern, where we had some tremendous food typical of the area. Finally our hosts Wayne and Dieter were again honored, as their friend and German officer Stefan Roth (who leaves for Afghanistan in the next few days) had successfully petitioned General Petraeus for a commendation, which was presented to them before dinner – a well deserved honor.Well, that about does it for today. We have another full day of activities planned for tomorrow, for which I will turn you back to one of my drag racing buddies, so I invite you to stop back in and see what we’re up to.

BIGFOOT ANNOUNCES “BIGFOOT BAD BOY III” FAN CONTEST WINNER!

October 21, 2010 (Hazelwood, MO) Earlier this week, Team BIGFOOT, in cooperation with monster truck series promoter Checkered Flag Productions (CFP), announced the winner of the “BIGFOOT® Bad Boy III” fan artwork contest. Hundreds of fans from around the world submitted their proposed paint scheme designs for this 2011 edition of the “Bad Boy BIGFOOT.”
The “Bad Boy BIGFOOT” identity was rolled out to the public in January of 2009 with newcomer (to BIGFOOT) Larry Swim behind the wheel. Team BIGFOOT felt that Swim personified the anarchistic, hot-rod personality that the Bad Boy BIGFOOT needed! Swim lived up to the billing and delivered the 2009 CFP Championship.
Although the 2009 Bad Boy truck was designed in-house at BIGFOOT, the 2010 edition was put to the fans, who submitted all manner of ideas ranging from the mild to the crazy-wild. This contest proved to be very popular, with the winner receiving credit on the actual truck itself, in addition to free event tickets and such.
So, as the summer of 2010 arrived, both Team BIGFOOT and the folks at CFP knew it was time to continue the tradition. The “2011 BIGFOOT Bad Boy III” contest kicked off on August 23rd, with submissions being accepted until midnight on September 30th. As the deadline came and went, fans began to grow eager with anticipation, wondering if their design was to become the next BIGFOOT.
After much deliberation (some heated, even), the design of 19-year old Brad Shaw of Wembley, Alberta, Canada was chosen by the staff of Team BIGFOOT and CFP. BIGFOOT even gave votes to its other drivers and its mechanics, etc. Shaw’s design features a satin black finish, complete with BIGFOOT and CFP “SkullPiston” artwork in addition to sinister white and black outline flames.
For the lifelong BIGFOOT fan, winning the design contest was both unexpected, and quite welcome. “I am honored and blessed to have been picked the winner of this contest,” said Shaw in an interview not long after his concept was announced as the winner. “I have been watching BIGFOOT throughout my life, and I never would have thought that one of my designs would be on a BIGFOOT truck.”
He enthusiastically added that “I am glad that CFP and BIGFOOT do this for the fans. They do so much for us, and this shows why BIGFOOT and CFP are at the forefront of the monster truck world.”
“We are very proud of Brad’s work, and, quite frankly, we can’t wait to see it come to life,” said BIGFOOT VP Bob Trent. “The first year of the Bad Boy saw a red and black paint scheme, and last year’s truck featured more of a traditional blue look to it. Brad’s design captures what I think the Bad Boy BIGFOOT is really supposed to be - dark, mean, and 100% hot rod. From all of us here at BIGFOOT, Well done Brad!”
Checkered Flag Productions owner and founder Ed Beckley shared Trent’s sentiments: “I said to Brad earlier today ‘Awesome job, dude!’ and I meant it! This is just what we were looking for!”
The new Bad Boy BIGFOOT is scheduled to make its competition debut January 14th in Cincinnati, OH at the famed Cincinnati Gardens Arena. The historic entertainment venue will host two nights of CFP’s “2011 Bad Boys of Racing Tour”, and will see BIGFOOT driver Larry Swim begin his quest to defend his two consecutive CFP titles.

“If things go my way in 2011, the Bad Boy BIGFOOT is going to be very hard to beat on-track,” said Swim. “Besides, we already know its going to be tough to beat it in the looks department.”
BIGFOOT Set to Defend Home Turf
at Chaifetz Arena on Saturday!

October 4, 2010 - (Hazelwood, MO)
St. Louis’ own BIGFOOT® monster truck is prepared to defend its home turf
this Saturday night, October 16th, at Chaifetz Arena on the St. Louis
University campus, as driver Darren Migues and the Midwest Four Wheel Drive
BIGFOOT square off with a host of national-level monster truck challengers.
Migues, who will pilot the Midwest Four Wheel Drive BIGFOOT truck at
Saturday night’s event, will be competing against the truck that up until
this summer he used to drive:
Kansas
’ own Bounty Hunter. Joining the highly-competitive Bounty Hunter
will be a number of other trucks and drivers who have nothing but winning on
their minds. “It’s
going to be an interesting night on-track for sure,” said Migues.
“The transition from driving for the Bounty Hunter team to Team BIGFOOT
has been a smooth one. These are hands-down some of the best trucks in
the world, and it’s an honor to represent the team at their hometown
event.” He added that “I’m definitely looking forward to taking on my
old team as well. All bets are off when we line up against each other.
Nobody is going to be cutting us any slack, and we don’t plan on cutting
them any.”
For the Chaifetz Arena event only, Migues’
ride will be sporting yet another “retro” paintjob to help commemorate
the 35th Anniversary of BIGFOOT and Midwest Four Wheel Drive.
The truck will once again feature the familiar all-blue color scheme that is
so closely associated with the BIGFOOT name, in addition to featuring
classic “Midwest Four Wheel Drive” lettering on the door. This
harkens back to a look that hasn’t been seen on a BIGFOOT truck since the
late 1970’s. “We are ecstatic to share with our fans this very special
35th Anniversary Midwest Four Wheel Drive/BIGFOOT graphic
scheme,” said BIGFOOT Vice President
Bob Trent
. “
St. Louis
has always been home to BIGFOOT, so we felt that we would do something
special considering this is our only opportunity this year to race in front
of our hometown friends, family and fans.” Trent went on to add that
“Midwest Four Wheel Drive has been the top name in custom four wheel drive
work in this area since the late 1970’s, and with Midwest being the title
sponsor of the Chaifetz Arena monster truck event, we couldn’t think of a
better way to pay homage to our history than by creating yet another
‘throwback’ look.”
To
help create this look, Team BIGFOOT worked with long-time collaborators
Vinyl Images of Fenton, MO. Vinyl Images worked hand-in-hand with
BIGFOOT’s designers to replicate the lettering for the door and bedsides
of the truck. “Vinyl
Images is always great to work with, they’ve been long-time friends of
ours and they always do great work. I know they are definitely excited
to be working with us on yet another special project like this,” explained
Trent
.
As an added bonus, fans attending the
event will be able to pick up their free BIGFOOT autograph cards, which
feature a coupon on the backside entitling them to a discount on shop labor
costs while having vehicle work performed at Midwest Four Wheel Drive.
“We wanted to give something back to our
fans who come out to see us at this event, so not only will they get a free
BIGFOOT autograph card, they’ll get a great discount from Midwest as
well,” said Trent. “They can simply present their autograph card at
Midwest
’s location at I-270 and North Lindbergh and receive 10% off their shop
labor costs. It’s just one way we’re saying ‘Thanks’ to
St. Louis
!”
Tickets
are on-sale now for the event, and are going fast. For more
information on pricing and availability and for general event information,
fans can visit the online home of Chaifetz Arena at www.thechaifetzarena.com.
TEAM BIGFOOT END OF SUMMER UPDATE: WINS, WINS, WINS
PART 2 of 2
October 4, 2010 - (Hazelwood, MO) To continue from
our last update,
here is news on the rest of Team BIGFOOT's monster trucks and drivers for
Summer 2010!
Here is a re-cap of the many wins of the last few
months (cont.):
Rick Long & BIGFOOT #15 - Long & #15 were no slouches this summer, either. With a brutal schedule filled with overnight drives, engine and transmission swaps, and stiff competition, Long could easily be considered the team’s “ironman” of the summer. Long absolutely tore through the KSR Motorsports Nights of Destruction tour, which is a freestyle-only series that takes place predominantly in the northeast US. Long and BIGFOOT #15 proved that this was their territory, easily racking up more freestyle wins than any other truck on the tour, despite dealing with a blown motor and cooked transmission at less than convenient times. Long also earned Team BIGFOOT’s second racing championship of the year while in Canfield, OH, where a handful of racing victories (before blowing yet another motor) secured him the
E3 Spark Plugs/Lucas Oil Monster Nationals Racing
Championship. That series began way back in January, and all of Long’s hard work and even harder driving style certainly paid off.
Larry Swim & BIGFOOT #14 - BIGFOOT #14, towards the tail-end of a short run of races through CA, driver Larry Swim put BIGFOOT #14 into low orbit off of a large dirt jump in Salinas, CA during a freestyle session that had fans out of their seats and on their feet. Swim, who up to that point had been flogging the truck with a controlled mix of intensity and fluidity, felt a pain in his back as he landed, and wisely decided to call his run complete at that point. Further examination would reveal that he had compressed a disc in his back, and would have to sit out for the remainder of the year. Larry is scheduled to return to BIGFOOT #14 in January, ready to try for his third consecutive
Checkered Flag Productions Bad Boys of Racing
title!
Darren Migues & BIGFOOT #14 - Naturally, the team needed an experienced and trust-worthy driver to fill in for Swim at a number of high-profile events scheduled for the weeks and months ahead. So Darren Migues (recently of the Bounty Hunter team) was hand-picked to fill in, and after a weekend in Albuquerque, NM performing exhibition car crushes to get used to the truck, he took right to the track and began delivering winning performances immediately! Although Migues’ position with the team is temporary for now, fan response to seeing him behind the wheel of a BIGFOOT truck has been great.
BIGFOOT #11 - BIGFOOT #11 has rotated drivers this summer. Former BIGFOOT #8 display truck driver
Darron Schnell spent a great deal of the summer putting #11 through its paces crushing cars at various Firestone events in the US and Canada, even going as far east as Nova Scotia! He also served as crew chief for
Amber Walker, Team BIGFOOT’s first female driver since the 1980’s. Sporting the “MS BIGFOOT” body on BIGFOOT #11, Walker was very aggressive on-track, refusing to yield to the boys and showing no fear of the truck! She even racked up enough round wins to finish FOURTH in the 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals summer outdoor series, and made some spectacular freestyles!
Looking forward to 2011 - With yet another action-packed summer in the books, Team BIGFOOT now looks ahead to a calmer fall schedule that will transition into a brief “off-season” in late November and December. During the “off-season,” Team BIGFOOT’s exceptional mechanics will prepare the trucks for 2011, which will be one of the busiest indoor/winter seasons in recent memory!
“We’ve got a ton on our plate for the fall and winter, make no mistake about it,” said BIGFOOT VP of Operations
Jim Kramer. As Bob Trent adds, “in addition to all of the usual maintenance, repairs, and updates to make our existing fleet, we are looking to continue progress on our newest truck, BIGFOOT #18!” Kramer then went on to confirm that
Nigel Morris, owner and driver of BIGFOOT
#17, will travel from England to spend part of the early winter working with the rest of the Team to get #18 ready for a 2011 debut (possibly as early as the spring/early summer)!! Nigel will then return to England to continue performing with #17 in Europe and the Middle East.
TEAM BIGFOOT END OF SUMMER UPDATE: WINS, WINS, WINS
PART 1 of 2
October 4, 2010 - (Hazelwood, MO) Team BIGFOOT closed out the outdoor racing season in winning form recently, capping off a four-month streak of on-track success stretching from coast-to-coast. The team’s fleet of five race trucks and two static display trucks has been in near constant motion all year long, but as BIGFOOT 4X4 Inc., VP of Events Bob Trent confirmed, the summer months are typically some of the busiest!
“The summer is always a war in the monster truck industry, especially with all of the big, outdoor events. And, few teams can claim to be as busy as we are during those months,” Trent explained. “We couldn’t have been so successful this summer without the hard work of our entire staff working as a team, from our mechanics and drivers to our office and marketing people!”
Here is a re-cap of the many wins of the last few months:
Dan Runte & BIGFOOT #16 - Runte, the team’s most senior driver, spearheaded BIGFOOT’s racing efforts at some of the largest events this summer, campaigning both the 35th Anniversary “RetroFoot” BIGFOOT® body and the
Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT, depending on the event. He piled up wins all summer long, claiming national event victories in Salt Lake City, UT; Rochester, MN; Springfield, MO; Lima, OH; Bloomsburg, PA, and Indianapolis, IN, among others. However, Runte’s achievements this year did not end there! Dan re-set the track record in Salt Lake City on the challenging figure-8 race course with a blistering time of 27.78secs, and in September, he established himself and BIGFOOT #16 as the
world’s fastest monster truck and driver in the 1/8th
mile, as the duo achieved a top speed of 86.56mph at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH!
Rodney Tweedy & BIGFOOT #10 - Not to be outdone, “Hot Rod” Tweedy and BIGFOOT #10 also had an impressive summer. After debuting the
Firestone/MLB BIGFOOT (featuring FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, a Chevrolet body and motor) at the 2010 MLB All-Star Fan Fest in Anaheim, CA in July, Tweedy became the first (and thus far only) BIGFOOT driver to EVER perform in a Chevrolet BIGFOOT at a Firestone car crush event in Billings, MT. When BIGFOOT #10 was switched back to its standard body and motor, Tweedy (much like teammate Rick Long) took to the northeastern states with a vengeance, dominating a series of FMG Events and KSR Motorsports shows, capturing a number of racing and freestyle wins across NY, MA, and NH.
BIGFOOT #8 & BIGFOOT
#12 - Both Team BIGFOOT static display trucks, BIGFOOT #8 and #12,
have seen extensive road time this year as well, visiting Firestone tire
retail outlets and Complete Auto Care centers, in addition to appearing at
various corporate and special events. BIGFOOT #12 and driver Ron
Bachmann even made special appearances at the MAC Tools NHRA US
Nationals in Indianapolis and at Summit
Racing Equipment’s headquarters in Tallmadge, OH.
There is more news coming, in the second
part of BIGFOOT's Summer Recap! STAY TUNED...

MLB 2010 All-Star FanFest features
The Original Monster Truck, BIGFOOT

July 15, 2010 - Yes, you read it correctly - BIGFOOT was a featured vehicle at the 2010 MLB All-Star FanFest weekend.
We were brought aboard to help represent Firestone, which is the “Official Tire of Major League Baseball” and the “Official Tire of BIGFOOT”.
When we read about Firestone becoming the official Tire of the MLB, we knew we had to figure out a way to be part of
the 2010 All-Star game! With Firestone sponsoring our fleet of trucks and with
BIGFOOT displays at Firestone dealers across the country, we knew this would be a hit for Firestone and their customers. We immediately had our graphics department put together a few sample drawings and presented those to the folks at Firestone for their opinion.
We all agreed it was a GREAT idea, but Firestone needed to get approval from
MLB.
Drawings were sent in, tweaked, and finally approved.
There was really only one major question: Since Chevrolet is the Official Truck of Major League Baseball, could the All-Star Firestone-BIGFOOT truck run a Chevrolet body, so BIGFOOT could be at the 2010 All-Star FanFest?
The answer: YES! That very day we ordered ourselves a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado fiberglass monster truck body and got to work!
We even went so far as to build a Chevrolet big block 540 cubic inch motor with Trick Flow heads!
The truck turned out awesome with the Firestone-MLB graphics package!
There were also a lucky 10,000 people who received a 1/64th scale die cast Firestone-BIGFOOT toy given out during the event!
We would like to give a BIG thank you to Phil, Michael, Trent, and Trisha with Firestone for making this happen!
We could not be more proud to have you all as our partners!!

BIGFOOT ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH ROCKSOLID FLOORS®!
June
23, 2010 - (St. Louis, MO) BIGFOOT 4x4 Inc. is proud to announce their newest associate sponsor,
RockSolid Floors of Minneapolis, MN. RockSolid Floors manufactures an industry-leading environmentally friendly, 1-day “do it yourself” Polyurea flooring system for homes and garages. Their flooring system is adapted from their hugely successful line of industrial floor coatings found in food service, factory, and power plant applications.
“We are very excited to have partnered up with Team BIGFOOT, especially with this year being their 35th anniversary,” said RockSolid Floors CEO/Founder Patrick Ilfrey. “Their core values, toughness, and tradition of innovation fit perfectly with our RockSolid Floors brand. We know that if our product is tough enough for BIGFOOT, it’s tough enough for anyone!”
The collaboration between BIGFOOT and RockSolid Floors kicked off in earnest in mid-June, when the entire showroom floor of Team BIGFOOT’s St. Louis facility was stripped down to bare concrete and coated with RockSolid Floors’ amazingly tough Polyurea formula.
“Our showroom was definitely in need of a facelift,” said BIGFOOT VP Bob Trent. “Having the old vinyl tile and glue flooring removed and replaced with RockSolid Floors has really changed the look of the showroom for the better. We love it and everyone has been very impressed!”
With the help of SealGuard of St. Louis, the BIGFOOT showroom was transformed over the course of one weekend, which kept the team from having to close their doors for very long. In fact, the rapid cure time of the product allowed them to begin moving fixtures and merchandise back into the store the very day after the flooring was laid down. With the showroom completed, the shop floor of
Midwest Four Wheel Drive (Team BIGFOOT’s custom truck division) will be coated next, and will no doubt be able to withstand the harsh conditions of the shop environment!
In addition to Team
BIGFOOT’s fleet of race and display trucks proudly carrying RockSolid Floors decals, fans can expect to see a number of interesting and exciting projects involving BIGFOOT and RockSolid Floors in the near future.
“We have BIG plans for our partnership with BIGFOOT,” said Ilfrey. “We are really looking forward to introducing our product to monster truck fans everywhere by way of our affiliation with The Original Monster Truck®. To us, there’s no one better!”

Ultimate Fan Photo in Bloomsburg, PA on July 10th
June 22, 2010
- As we get set to visit the 23rd Annual 4-Wheel Drive Nationals in
Bloomsburg, PA on July 9th thru the 11th we are excited to bring you RETROFOOT #16 (BIGFOOT #16 with a 1974/1979 body) and the all new Ms. BIGFOOT. As we celebrate 35 years of Monster Trucking with these 2 famous trucks from our early years, we realize that without you, our fans, we would have never made it 35 years. What we have learned over the years is that it takes a great Team to make BIGFOOT the most Recognized Vehicle in History. In the past, we have had some great names as drivers, including Jim Kramer, Andy Brass, Gene Patterson and Eric Tack, just to name a few, and some of the best mechanics in our sport, including Roy Hoosier, Jay
Deikman, and Ken Koelling.
In 2010 we still feature some of the best drivers and mechanics in our sport, including drivers
Rick Long, Rodney Tweedy, Larry
Swim, Jerry Dalton, and, arguably one of the greatest Monster Truck Drivers ever,
Dan Runte. Piloting the new Ms. BIGFOOT is none other than veteran driver
Amber Walker. Our current group of mechanics is led by Bryan Bertoletti and includes John Peterson, Chris Ludwig, Bob Brown, and Nick
Dvorchek.
With all this being said, we realize that we started the Monster Truck Industry, when we built the first Monster Truck 35 years ago. We strive to be the very best that we can. The biggest thing we have learned is that teamwork holds all of this together, and that YOU, our fans, are the most important part! You are the heartbeat of our organization. You are what makes us strive to be the best we can every single day!! We could not do this without you, and to show you a small portion of our appreciation, we would like to take a Team photo and invite you to join us on Saturday July 10, 2010 at 11 AM at the Main Stage in Bloomsburg, PA to be part of our Team BIGFOOT
photo!!
So come join us at 11 AM at the Main Stage on July 10th
& wear your favorite BIGFOOT gear!
Thanks for everything and we hope to see you all
there!

TEAM BIGFOOT DRIVER SPEAKS AT
HAZELWOOD D.A.R.E./RISK WATCH CAMP
June 18, 2010 - Hazelwood, Mo. - Team BIGFOOT driver Jim Kramer was a guest speaker at the
Hazelwood D.A.R.E./Risk Watch Camp, which started this week for 38 fifth, sixth and seventh graders.
He brought with him the original BIGFOOT® monster truck, which may end up in the Smithsonian
Institute some day for its role in starting a whole new industry of monster trucks.
Co-sponsored by the Hazelwood Police Department and Hazelwood Fire Department, the Hazelwood
D.A.R.E./Risk Watch Camp is a three-week program that offers both drug resistance and safety classes.
In addition, guest speakers from many different occupations and agencies are invited to give
presentations to the campers. Other planned activities include arts and crafts, sports, swimming,
self-defense classes and much more.
During his presentation, Kramer told the campers that the name “BIGFOOT” was originally given to
the company owner, Bob Chandler, who owned a Ford F-250 4x4 pickup truck back in the mid-1970s.
He would go on some fun off-road weekend trips with Chandler. But Chandler always seemed to find
ways to break his truck. That’s when they started calling him “BIGFOOT” because his heavy foot on
the gas pedal often caused his breakage problems.
Since Chandler found ways to break the toughest of trucks, he discovered there was no place in the
Midwest to get 4x4 parts and service. Recognizing a potential market, Bob Chandler, Marilyn Chandler
and Jim Kramer started the Midwest Four Wheel Drive and Performance Center.
“We used Chandler’s 4x4 as a work truck, in addition to making it a promotional tool for the business,”
said Kramer. “We tried out new parts on the truck, and kept making it bigger and better in order to stay
ahead of the competition. Soon the truck itself became an attraction and that’s when we branded it as
the original BIGFOOT® monster truck. Our first paid event for BIGFOOT was a Denver car show in
1979.’”
Another interesting fact learned by the campers was that BIGFOOT crushed its first cars in the soybean
fields of Teson’s Farm, just down the street from the Hazelwood Community Center. In 1981,
Chandler wanted to see if he could drive BIGFOOT over some junk cars just for fun. So he made
arrangements with the owner of Teson’s Farm to do it on his property. The rest is history. He later
duplicated this stunt in a stadium show, which fueled an explosion of fan interest and led to a legion of
imitators. Over the past 29 years, a total of 16 BIGFOOT monster trucks have been produced by this
Hazelwood-based business.

Hazelwood D.A.R.E./Risk Watch Campers Meet BIGFOOT – Thirty-eight participants of this year’s Hazelwood
D.A.R.E./Risk Watch Camp get an up-close look of the original BIGFOOT® monster truck, which may end up in the Smithsonian Institute some day for its role in starting a whole new industry.

MS BIGFOOT, RETRO-RACER SET TO DEBUT IN SPRINGFIELD THIS WEEKEND!
April 28, 2010 - (St. Louis, MO)
Team BIGFOOT will take yet another huge step forward this weekend in commemorating their 35th anniversary by debuting the new “MS BIGFOOT” and “Retro BIGFOOT” monster trucks at the 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals being held in Springfield, MO. “New recruit”
Amber Walker will strap in behind the wheel of MS BIGFOOT and make her first appearance driving in front of a crowd in over three years, during what is sure to be an exciting weekend of monster truck action that will kick off the 2010 Jamboree Nationals points chase.
Amber will begin her driving career for Team BIGFOOT by campaigning the beautifully painted MS BIGFOOT body atop the
BIGFOOT #11 chassis, a task for which she is VERY excited! “The original MS BIGFOOT was such an awesome truck, and it marked the first time women really made their mark in this sport,” said Walker. “To be able to renew that tradition and to give all the girls in the crowd a BIGFOOT of their own to root for is going to be great!” Veteran
BIGFOOT #11 driver Jerry Dalton will serve as Amber’s crew chief for the duration of the weekend.
The Springfield 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals will feature three rounds of Monster Truck Thunder Drags® over the course of Saturday and Sunday. Amber and her teammate
Dan Runte in the 35th Anniversary “Retro” BIGFOOT #16 will compete against a stacked field of trucks, including high horsepower machines like Avenger and Raminator. In addition to the great racing and freestyle action, Amber and MS BIGFOOT will be on display on Friday, greeting fans and getting the greater Springfield area excited for the weekend ahead! Amber and Dan will be signing autographs at the BIGFOOT Official Licensed Merchandise trailer over the course of the weekend as well.
Speaking of Dan, he will have his plate as full as anyone’s in Springfield. Team BIGFOOT’s senior driver, who holds an impressive eight national
championships and 1 Guinness World
Record, knows the Springfield track well; he also knows how much of a role Mother Nature can play in the outcome of the weekend’s racing events. In addition to debuting a new “retro” look for his BIGFOOT #16 truck (a 1970’s F-250 body painted in the classic all-blue BIGFOOT style), Runte will also be serving as a mentor to Amber Walker, sharing insights into driving a BIGFOOT truck and helping her overcome her three year hiatus from driving!! Will the two end up meeting each other in the monster truck racing finals? “Only time will tell,” said Runte. “But I am optimistic that we’ll be able to have her up to speed pretty quick. She’s got a great attitude, a great truck underneath her, and a great team standing behind her.”
When asked to give his thoughts on the weekend as a whole, Runte was his usual analytical yet optimistic self: “Springfield is tough every year because of the mixed racing surface, part dirt and part asphalt. And, if that wasn’t enough, it always seems to rain. So we’ll go in there with the best set-up we can cook up, and hope that we picked the right combination of tire cut, engine tune-up, and gearing.” Runte’s crew chief and engine mastermind John Peterson added that “The competition is going to be tough and won’t cut us any slack, and we sure aren’t going to cut them any either.”
Fans attending the event will definitely want to bring their cameras, not just to take photos of two brand new looks for the BIGFOOT Team, but to get their photos taken with the trucks and their drivers, one of the more fan-friendly aspects of the Jamboree Nationals. A ton of exciting new merchandise will be available as well, including a line of MS BIGFOOT ladies-wear featuring pink and powder-blue hats and fitted shirts, and black and pink can cozies!!
The new BIGFOOT 35th Anniversary t-shirt featuring classic BIGFOOT trucks from over the years will also be available, and fans can have both Dan and Amber sign their merchandise!
“I’m absolutely thrilled to have Amber on-board not only as the newest driver on our roster, but also as our first female racer in over two decades,” said BIGFOOT president Ann Trent, daughter of BIGFOOT founder/owner Bob Chandler. “So many of Amber’s new teammates will be coming to Springfield to help make her feel welcome, and we certainly look forward to all the great Missouri fans cheering her on as well!”

Jonathon (Jon
Jon) Fletcher
My
son is five years old and has a terminal inoperable brain tumor. He was
diagnosed December 2, 2008 and we were told that he most likely had less
than three months to live. It has now been almost 16 months and we are
most likely down to weeks but you never know in these situations.
My son loves monster trucks an loves
to go to Monster Jam. We were admitted to Hospice House on March 3, 2010
and when we arrived we and the doctors thought he would be here only days
before passing. On the day we arrived the staff arranged for Jon Jon to
ride in a fire truck and then asked what he would want to do, without
hesitation we knew he would love to see a monster truck. The staff got to
work on that and sent out a request to everybody they could reach that
they wanted to get a monster truck here to Kansas City ASAP for him.
The next day Jim Creten the driver
and owner of Bounty Hunter came and visited with a couple of Hot Wheels of
his truck. Bounty Hunter was being loaded to drive 20 hours to a Monster
Jam event while he came to spend time with my son. While he was still
visiting we got word that Bigfoot was to come the next day.
Now your museum, where the truck was
coming from, is four hours away on the other side of the state in Saint
Louis. My sons condition was not very good so we were given the drivers
number in case he passed away before he arrived. The next day the driver
drove four hours across Missouri and spent almost an hour pulling Bigfoot
out of the semi-trailer and putting it together while everybody watched
(It was a great thrill).
While he was busy getting the wheels
on the truck Jon Jon wanted to get into his racing outfit and take his
helmet out with him when he was ready to show the truck. Jon Jons energy
level and mood were not great but I could see he really enjoyed seeing and
getting to get into Bigfoot.
When we got back inside we watched
the a Video that they gave to Jon Jon all about Bigfoots history. We
watched that all day and still watch it now. When his little brother
arrived and was crawling around in the wheels of Bigfoot we made a second
short trip back out put him in the wheels as well. I almost lost my wife
that day as she got up in the truck when nobody else was out there and
couldn't get down by herself (HA HA HA HA). The driver said he couldn't
take her back to St Louis since she would need to get out so he could get
Bigfoot back on the trailer to go home.
Thank you so much to your driver for
spending his entire day traveling and working all day for my son and his
wish to get in a real monster truck. His actual time here paled in
comparison to the time he spent to get here and back and I a very grateful
for his and your sacrifice to make this a reality for him.
Please feel free to share this story
and the attached pictures as you see fit. Again thank you for your
sacrifice in time and money to grant this for my son. Our family hopes to
visit the museum some time in the future but regrettably in will be
without Jon Jon. He is still here at Hospice House and has his good and
bad days. They believe he has maybe a few weeks left but that is up to
God. Prayers are always received gratefully.

Thursday
March 25th 3 Kids in 3 States with BIGFOOT
March 24, 2010 - This week, after a lot of hard work from Kurt
Workman here in our CFP office and my right arm, Zane Rettew, we have 3
kids that will be involved in Make A Wish Monster Truck parties with Team
BIGFOOT.
BAD BOY Larry Swim
is in New Mexico, Hot Rod Tweedy is in Washington,
and Dyno Dan Runte is in Oklahoma and on Thursday
all are making a kid smile and maybe give hope and show them we care.
Of course all of them and their families will get
the VIP treatment at our shows this weekend. We will make sure they
have t-shirts and plenty of autographs and they will be one of the
freestyle judges also. Hopefully when the shows are done, the dirt
is out of the building, the cars are back in the junk yard, and teams are
heading down the road those kids still have a smile on their faces.
All we can do is hope and pray that
next year when we come back those kids have found a miracle and get well.
Thanks to Bob Trent, Bob Chandler,
the entire BIGFOOT crew and these drivers for giving their own personal
time and effort to make 3 more dreams come true.
For me, the owner of the corporation
(CFP), this is so rewarding – there really are no words to describe what
I feel.
If the shows are bank busters and we
sell out every show, it will mean no more to me than what is happening on
Thursday in 3 different states this week. I am so proud of our CFP Crew
and to be involved in this endeavor.

INTRODUCING
AMBER WALKER, THE NEW MS. BIGFOOT!
March
11, 2010 - (St. Louis, MO) Following on the heels of the announcement
that Team BIGFOOT would be reviving the legendary
“Ms. BIGFOOT” name as part of their 35th Anniversary celebration,
comes the announcement of the chosen driver for the re-incarnated machine.
At a variety of events across the country this spring, summer, and fall,
fans can expect to see 29-year-old monster truck veteran Amber
Walker behind the wheel!
“I am very excited to be joining
Team BIGFOOT!” said a beaming Walker. Although her name may be
unfamiliar to some monster truck fans, her resume doesn’t disappoint.
From 2001 through 2006 Walker spent her time as a driver and crew member
for a large monster truck team based out of northern Indiana, campaigning
trucks like Boogey Van and Monster Patrol at various events across North
America. Interestingly enough, Amber will find some familiar faces at Team
BIGFOOT, including Rodney Tweedy and Larry
Swim, who both happen to be alumni of the same team for which Amber
worked. “I am so very fortunate to be back working with some old
colleagues and friends, as well as making new ones along the way,”
stated Walker. She added that “this opportunity is a wonderful chance
for me to get back to doing what I love, and doing it for the best team
around.”
“We are very excited to have Amber
on board to help re-launch the Ms. BIGFOOT name and identity,” said
BIGFOOT 4x4 Inc. President Ann Trent. “I think it is going to be a great
program on a number of levels, not the least of which encouraging our
female fan base to get more involved. They deserve to have a BIGFOOT to
root for as well!” Trent no doubt has a heartfelt connection to the Ms.
BIGFOOT legacy, as her mother, Marilyn Chandler (wife of BIGFOOT creator
Bob Chandler), debuted the original Ms. BIGFOOT in the mid 1980’s to
great fanfare, along the way becoming the first female monster truck
driver. “I think all of the guys will be gunning for her on-track at the
events Ms. BIGFOOT will be competing at, but I feel she [Amber] will do
just fine. Aside from her talent behind the wheel, her understanding of
the mechanical side of the trucks and the awesome crew standing behind her
at BIGFOOT will help propel her toward victory lane.”
“All in all, this is really just a
great honor to be asked to drive a BIGFOOT truck, especially carrying on
the tradition of the Ms. BIGFOOT name,” said Walker. “I’ve loved
this sport and its fans for a long time now, and I’m ready to make some
new ones behind the wheel of Ms. BIGFOOT. I’m ready to show the boys
that I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty and put the pedal to the
metal!”

CREATOR BOB CHANDLER TO ACT AS GRAND MARSHAL FOR NHRA SOUTHERN NATIONALS
March
8, 2010 - (St. Louis, MO) Race fans of all ages will be in for a treat
during the 30th Annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals
this May, as BIGFOOT #1, The Original Monster Truck®,
and its creator, Bob Chandler, will be on-hand all
weekend long. Chandler and will serve as the race’s Grand Marshall,
while BIGFOOT #1 will be on display for the duration of the weekend (May
14-16), courtesy of Summit
Racing Equipment.
The 30th Annual Summit Racing
Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals will feature top teams and drivers in
several classes qualifying and competing in thrilling side-by-side drag
racing. Classes in competition include Top Fuel Dragster and Funny Cars,
Pro-Mod, Pro-Stock Motorcycle, and Pro-Stock (featuring Summit Racing
Equipment-backed drivers Jason Line and Greg Anderson). All of the great
action will take place at the legendary Atlanta Dragway, just outside of
Atlanta.
Although he is no doubt more
accustomed to the dirt environs of monster truck competition, Chandler is
undoubtedly looking forward to the event. “As wild as monster truck
racing has become over the last two decades, the basic element of
side-by-side drag racing is still there; most of us are drag racers at
heart.” He went on to explain that “There is nothing quite like the
immediacy of seeing two drivers and two vehicles settle things in just a
few lightning quick seconds.”
Chandler is credited as being the
father of the monster truck industry, as his personal pickup truck
eventually became BIGFOOT #1, the world’s first monster truck, 35 years
ago. Always one to help push his sport forward, Chandler has helped
spearhead a number of advancements in monster truck safety, performance,
and competition. Since monster trucks began competing for points
championships in 1988, Chandler’s BIGFOOT team, which now has a total of
nine vehicles including five race trucks, has amassed 25
National Championships. The BIGFOOT team counts Summit Racing
Equipment among their major sponsors, a relationship that has served both
organizations quite well.
“I’m very excited to nose around
the pits and to meet all of the great fans that will be attending the
race,” said Chandler. “What a great honor it is to be asked by the
NHRA and Summit Racing to be the Grand Marshal for a national event. It
truly is a privilege.”

BIGFOOT
announces partnership with Champion System!

February 24, 2010 - (St.
Louis, MO) Custom motorsports apparel manufacturer Champion System, and
BIGFOOT, The Original Monster Truck®, have announced a partnership
through 2012, making Champion System the “Official Crew Uniform of
BIGFOOT”.
“We
are absolutely thrilled to have Champion System aboard as the official
crew uniform supplier for BIGFOOT,” said BIGFOOT 4x4 Inc. Vice President
Bob Trent. “The core values behind the BIGFOOT team are quality,
professionalism, and performance. It is no coincidence that our values
align perfectly with those of Champion System.” He added that “we
strive for a high level of professionalism with our events, from
performance and appearance of our truck to the appearance and capabilities
of our staff. Thanks to Champion System, we’ll be looking as
professional as ever.”
Eric Cody, Motorsports Division
Director for Champion System was equally ecstatic. “Since first taking
the world by storm in the early 1980’s, BIGFOOT has achieved
unparalleled success in the sport of monster truck racing. We [Champion
System] always look to partner with companies that are leaders in their
sport and have quality operations. Choosing Team BIGFOOT was a
no-brainer.” Cody went on to explain that “BIGFOOT’s rich history
and tradition is something we are very proud to now be a part of. 35 years
ago they almost single-handedly created an entire motorsport, and their
team has been consummate professionals from the start. By partnering with
Champion System for their uniform needs, I think they’ll be raising the
bar even higher, and we are proud to be right there with them.”
“Champion System has just been
fantastic to work with,” said BIGFOOT Marketing Specialist Kyle Doyle.
“Champion System’s downloadable shirt templates made it easy for our
staff to lay out a design that everyone could agree on. That, coupled with
their low minimums and unlimited color selection at no extra charge makes
them the obvious choice.”
Team BIGFOOT is celebrating their
35th Anniversary in 2010, a landmark that is unrivaled in the sport of
monster truck racing. The team, which currently consists of BIGFOOT
#1 (The Original Monster Truck), BIGFOOT #5
(the world’s tallest and heaviest pickup truck), five competition
monster trucks and two static-display monster trucks will have accumulated
over 700 appearance days at monster truck events, trade shows, drag races,
car shows, and Firestone events

ULTIMATE DISPLAY PACKAGE WINNER ANNOUNCED!
(St. Louis, MO) While most folks
have yet to figure out their Memorial Day plans, Jonathan Northcutt and
his staff at Madill Motor Sales in the tiny town of Madill, OK have an
idea of what their Memorial Day weekend will entail. And, if nothing else,
they definitely know they need to make some room…a LOT of room!

The new Firestone BIGFOOT! Photo by John Roberts/PhotoRPM.com.
Earlier this week it was announced
that Madill Motor Sales had won the 2010 Ultimate BIGFOOT Display package,
featuring BIGFOOT, The Original Monster Truck®. “The Ultimate BIGFOOT
Display package is pretty much a monster truck fan’s dream come true,”
said BIGFOOT 4x4 Inc. Vice President Bob Trent. “As if one BIGFOOT
monster truck wasn’t enough, we offered businesses around the country
the chance to bring not one but three BIGFOOT monster trucks to their
location for Memorial Day weekend to share with their town.”
“I’m just about speechless,”
said Madill Motor Sales representative Jonathan Northcutt. “I entered us
into the contest, and pretty much forgot about it. I never seem to have
much luck with drawings of any sort.”

It would appear that Jonathan’s
luck may have changed.
With help from long-time sponsor Firestone,
Team BIGFOOT will transport a selection of BIGFOOT monster trucks to the
small southern Oklahoma town on Memorial Day weekend that is sure to
capture the attention of nearly everyone in the area. The event will begin
on Friday the 28th, with BIGFOOT #1 (The Original
Monster Truck) being joined on display by BIGFOOT #5
(the world’s tallest and heaviest monster truck). A Firestone Tires
BIGFOOT competition truck will also be on-hand to perform a car crushing
exhibition each day. But perhaps just as exciting as the monster trucks
themselves is the fact that Bob Chandler, creator
of BIGFOOT and the monster truck industry itself, will be signing
autographs each day along with legendary BIGFOOT driver Jim
Kramer in the BIGFOOT Official Merchandise trailer.

Northcutt echoed those sentiments:
“I really think we are going to have a great crowd over the course of
the weekend. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the folks at BIGFOOT

RON BACHMANN:
BIG MAN ON CAMPUS
When you think of longevity and
dedication in the monster truck industry, it is hard not to think of the
BIGFOOT team as a whole. But within the organization, few peoples’
record of service better represents those two qualities more than that of Ron
Bachmann, driver of BIGFOOT #12.
Bachmann,
known affectionately by his teammates and peers as “Lurch” due to his
towering stance, has spent a remarkable 25 years at BIGFOOT performing
just about every task imaginable, and traveling to a list of places that
would make a National Geographic editor’s head spin.
In his past life, the 48-year old
Jerseyville, IL resident was a bouncer at a night club, a job the former
Nebraska Cornhusker lineman was well-suited for. But when the opportunity
arose to work for BIGFOOT in the then-new monster truck industry, Bachmann
made the move. “It was something new at the time, and it looked pretty
fun,” he explained. “I literally walked into Midwest Four Wheel Drive
(Home of BIGFOOT) one day, and asked to speak to Bob Chandler. Sure
enough, he came up to the storefront to talk to me. I told him I’d like
to try working for him, and the rest is history.”
With 25 years of experience
traveling with the world’s best-known fleet of monster trucks, Bachmann
has met his share of fans, both at home and abroad. His outgoing nature
and fan-friendly demeanor make him the ideal employee to operate the
BIGFOOT #12 static display truck. That fact, combined with his experience
racing BIGFOOT trucks in the past and working in the shop, gives him the
ability to talk shop with the best of them. “One of the best parts of
working at BIGFOOT is all the great people you meet,” said Bachmann. He
added that “Working for the Chandler family for so long has made them
feel like family to me, and that is definitely one of my favorite parts of
being here.”
That statement is echoed by BIGFOOT
President Ann Trent, the eldest daughter of BIGFOOT creators Bob &
Marilyn Chandler. “I always like to say that Ronnie is a big part of the
family. My siblings and I have literally grown up with him; simply put,
he’s a fixture around here and we are so happy to have him with us!”
After years of traveling the globe
(literally) with BIGFOOT, including appearances in Japan and the UK,
Bachmann still enjoys returning to his small-town home in IL, particularly
to go four-wheeling and hunting. Bachmann recalls his trips to Japan,
where the local population was quite fascinated by his height and size.
“At one point, they tried to talk me into becoming a sumo wrestler. But
I don’t think that’s quite my cup of tea.”

When asked to recall some of his
fondest memories of traveling with BIGFOOT, some come quicker than others
for Bachmann. “Well, I don’t remember the first time I drove a BIGFOOT
truck over cars, that was back in the caveman days!” he chuckles. “But
I’ll never forget Bonnie B.’s 7-layer chocolate cake, out in
Gloucester, VA. Now that was some good stuff!”
