TEAM BIGFOOT TAKES TOP HONORS AT MTRA AWARDS BANQUET

Dec. 8, 2009 - (St. Louis, MO) After a remarkably strong on-track showing in 2009, Team BIGFOOT was aptly rewarded off-track at the Monster Truck Racing Association’s annual awards banquet, held this past weekend in St. Louis.

From left to right: Bob Chandler, Julie and John Peterson, Lisa and Nigel Morris, Rodney Tweedy, Kyle Doyle, Rick Long, Ann Trent, Jerry Dalton, & Bob Trent.

Team driver Larry Swim, pilot of the BIGFOOT Bad Boy (BIGFOOT #14) captured the coveted “Driver Of The Year” award in only his first full year of driving for the BIGFOOT team. As BIGFOOT Vice-President Bob Trent spelled out during his stand-in acceptance speech, Swim’s fresh new approach to driving not only attracted the notice of both fans and competitors, but also helped Swim capture the 2009 Checkered Flag Productions championship. Swim chalked up an impressive 19 racing wins and 13 freestyle wins in 2009, over the course of 52 events. “This year has just flown by for me,” said Swim after his arrival following the awards ceremony. “My main focus was to just get comfortable with the truck and try to represent my team well, and maybe sneak a few wins in here and there. I certainly didn’t go out expecting to end up Driver of the Year!” Humble as always, he added that “I could not of had the year I did without the help of everyone in the shop at BIGFOOT, the help from [legendary BIGFOOT driver] Jim Kramer out on the road, the great people at Checkered Flag, and of course all the great fans we met. What a way to end the season!”

Swim was not the only member of the team rejoicing, as teammate Dan Runte collected “Truck Of The Year” honors for the accomplishments made by his Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT #16 machine. With Runte at the helm, BIGFOOT #16 turned in some of the most scintillating freestyle performances of the year during the outdoor season, in addition to being one of the toughest trucks to beat in side-by-side racing. In the 41 events that Runte and BIGFOOT #16 competed at in 2009, the duo tallied up a combined total of 23 racing and freestyle victories. “This truck has simply been a rocket-ship since its debut a few years ago,” said Runte. “Summit Racing Equipment has been a fixture on this truck since the truck was new, and it has been great having them onboard. We won some races, put on some great freestyles, and didn’t end up on our lid too much, so I’d say it was a pretty good year!”

One could argue that behind any great monster truck (or in this case, fleet of monster trucks) is a great mechanic, and this year one of the sport’s greatest mechanics was also honored by the MTRA. And as you may have guessed, his toolbox calls the BIGFOOT shop home. 18-year BIGFOOT employee John Peterson deservingly won his first “Mechanic Of The Year” award, against a very talented pool of nominees. Peterson, whose calm demeanor contrasts with his scalding-hot engine tunes and unrivaled track-side wrenching abilities, was pleasantly surprised after being called to the podium to accept his award. “I was kind of shocked when I heard my name called,” laughed Peterson. “It’s pretty easy to fly under people’s radar when you spend most of your time out of the limelight and in the pits or at the shop, so for me it’s that much more important. I’m truly grateful to everyone who cast their vote for me!”

Team BIGFOOT was also awarded their championship trophy from Checkered Flag Productions, commemorating their clinching of the 2009 title. BIGFOOT team manager and VP Bob Trent was clearly proud of the team: “Our guys have done a fantastic job this year, both on the CFP tour and elsewhere. Firestone and Summit Racing have helped us grow, and have been a crucial element to our success, both on-track and in promoting their respective brands. 2010 is the 35th anniversary of BIGFOOT, and I know it is going to be a great year with all of the positive momentum we are taking with us from 2009. A big pat on the back to everyone on the BIGFOOT Team! We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help!”

BIGFOOT drivers Rick Long, Rodney Tweedy, Jerry Dalton, and UK BIGFOOT driver Nigel Morris also attended the banquet along with BIGFOOT creator Bob Chandler, Bob and Ann Trent, and BIGFOOT’s newest team member Kyle Doyle, who also emceed the awards ceremony.

The BIGFOOT monster trucks will return to action in January, kicking off the 2010 35th Anniversary season with throttles wide open the weekend of January 8th through the 10th. All five BIGFOOT race trucks will be tearing it up nationwide from West Valley City, UT to Oklahoma City, OK to Trenton, NJ. For the first part of the 2010 event schedule, CLICK HERE.

BIGFOOT® MAKES MONSTER DONATION TO MARINES’ TOYS FOR TOTS

December 7th, 2009 - (Eureka, MO) The Marine Toys For Tots Foundation received a visit and a sizeable donation of toys from the biggest name in monster trucks this past Saturday, during toy drives at Wal-Mart stores in Eureka and Fenton, Missouri. BIGFOOT #1, The Original Monster Truck®, and legendary driver Jim Kramer stopped by the Marines’ toy drive booth in Eureka, while veteran driver Ron Bachman and BIGFOOT #12 spent the day helping collect toys and greeting fans in Fenton.

In addition to donating their time to help the Marines and local firefighters collect toys, the BIGFOOT team donated over 300 BIGFOOT toys to the organization. While on display at the toy drives, the BIGFOOT team was joined by representatives from St. Louis-based oil company Schaeffer Oil, who helped arrange the trucks’ appearances. Schaeffer Oil, BIGFOOT’s newest sponsor, not only helped coordinate the appearances but also provided brand-new 55-gallon barrels that were filled to the brim and beyond with the BIGFOOT toys.

“We had an absolute blast helping out Toys For Tots,” said BIGFOOT Vice President Jim Kramer. “The Marines and firefighters do so much for our country that helping collect donations and donating some toys of our own really was the least we could do.” Team member Ron Bachman echoed those sentiments: “I’ve been all around the world with BIGFOOT, but helping out at an event like this close to home is one of the most rewarding things we do with the trucks. Knowing that we are helping make the holiday season fun for a lot of deserving kids is a great feeling.”

“BIGFOOT has called the St. Louis area home since its inception in 1975,” added Kramer. “It means a great deal to us to participate in events like this each year. Helping out our community is just as much a part of what we do as racing and crushing cars is.” Schaeffer Oil Director of Marketing Maureen Missimore was equally ecstatic about the events: “Having not one, but two BIGFOOT trucks helping with the toy drives was just fantastic.” She noted that “having the trucks as part of the toy drives helped greatly; it was heartwarming to see so many shoppers donating to a great cause! BIGFOOT and Schaeffer Oil are pioneers in their respective industries, and it was an awesome sight to see both of them giving back to their community.”

Monster Truck Drag Racing: BIGFOOT v. Snake Bite

November 2, 2009 - Well, fans, we were invited to the ADRL World Finals in Ennis, Texas at the Texas Motorplex October 23rd and 24th to run BIGFOOT and Snake Bite down the drag strip, and it turned out to be a record-setting event for Team BIGFOOT. We sent Dan Runte in the Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT #16 and Larry Swim in the Firestone Snake Bite #14. We have run monsters down the drag strip before, but never side by side on the 1/8 mile!

We raced Friday night at 11:15 p.m. and boy did we surprise the crowd. We think they were just expecting the trucks to race down the track, but we had a REAL surprise for them. We were able to do very smoky burnouts in the box and carried them right thru the starting line!! It was awesome. Then it was race time! Dan ran 8.221 at 84.27 mph and Larry ran an 8.349 at 79.21 mph.

On Saturday we were trying to find out who had the fastest speed for a Monster Truck and found that War Wizard ran at 84.328 mph (on a runway). Realizing just how close we were to beating that record on Friday, we thought we might have a chance on Saturday. The guys actually ended up racing at 1:13 am on Sunday the 25th, but Dan was able to eclipse the record by running an 8.261 at 84.49 mph! Larry had a little problem with traction at the starting line and ran a 10.861 at 74.88 mph.

Dan Runte with the actual print-out of his world record speed.

CLICK HERE to see the actual record-breaking ticket!

What a great weekend of drag racing!! We would like to thank the ADRL and Summit Racing Equipment for giving us this opportunity. You can see the video of the races at Bigfoot4x4.com/video-gallery.

Bad Boy 2: The Winner!

October 16, 2009 - We have a winner.  All the people at BIGFOOT 4X4, Inc. and Checkered Flag Productions are proud to announcer a winner for the “Bad Boy 2” contest. After going through all the drawings, which included many, many great ideas, we narrowed the choices down, and then finally chose the winning drawing: And the winner is ….. Cale Putnam!!

- Click image for large version -

“With all the energy and the exciting, over the edge driving of Larry Swim and the work Team BIGFOOT has done to let him chase the 2010 CFP National Championship, the truck needed a new look and this design from Cale has captured all that and more. With this design, the Bad Boy looks stronger than ever and you can tell BIGFOOT is lurking, keeping a watchful on this Bad Boy!!” – Ed Beckley, President, Checkered Flag Productions.

“I’m very excited to unveil Bad Boy 2. I have always believed that BIGFOOT should be blue and I think that Cale’s design is a perfect way to tie BIGFOOT and the Bad Boys of Racing National Series together. This is truly going to be a great year for all involved. We would like to thank Nick at Steel Skinz Graphics for being a part of this and supplying the graphics for Bad Boy 2.”- Zane Rettew, Event Coordinator, Checkered Flag Productions.

“We had a bunch of great design entries for this contest. We were extremely excited to see all of the fan support for Larry and his Bad Boy BIGFOOT® monster truck. In my opinion, Cale’s design is the perfect example of what the Bad Boy BIGFOOT should be. I can’t wait to get this new body done and on the truck and start working on our new product line. Thanks, to all of you for all of your participation and support!!” – Bob Trent VP, BIGFOOT 4X4, Inc.

National Guard ADRL Adds Monster Trucks to World Finals

October 14, 2009 - O’FALLON, MO — Halloween will still be a week away, but monsters will be set loose at the Texas Motorplex Oct. 23-24, when “BIGFOOT,” the biggest name in monster truck history, takes on the equally intimidating “Snake-Bite” in a special, eighth-mile drag racing grudge match during the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals V, the championship-deciding season ender for the National Guard American Drag Racing League (ADRL).

The special race-within-a-race is being added to the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals V courtesy of Summit Racing Equipment, primary sponsor of Team BIGFOOT and title sponsor of the Summit Racing Equipment ADRL Ohio Drags at National Trail Raceway, near Columbus, Ohio.

“When we started discussing how Summit Racing Equipment could become a part of the ADRL World Finals it just seemed like a perfect time to bring these two powerful marketing partners together,” Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports and Events Manager Jim Greenleaf said. “Bob Chandler and the guys with BIGFOOT always put on a great show and that’s what makes this such a perfect fit with the great drag racing event than Kenny Nowling and his ADRL crew put together. So you know this is going to be a big hit with the fans.”

Weighing in at 10,000 pounds apiece, each truck will fight to put more than 1,500 horsepower to the pavement daily at the Ennis, Texas, drag strip.

“Just like all of our pro racing classes, this will be no gimmicks, heads-up, first-one-to-the-finish-line-wins racing,” National Guard ADRL President and CEO Kenny Nowling stated. “I can’t wait to stand between these monsters when they light them up. The fans at the Motorplex are in for a real treat.”

“We are extremely excited to bring monster truck drag racing to the ADRL,” BIGFOOT 4X4 Inc. Vice President Bob Trent added.

Both monster trucks will be on display all weekend during the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals V, with BIGFOOT driver Dan Runte and Snake-Bite’s Larry Swim also available to sign autographs. They will race following the conclusion of the National Guard ADRL’s championship-deciding Speedtech Battle for the Belts finals on Friday night, just before Mike “Hojo” Hojnacki closes out the day with a flame-throwing, jet-car blast and again on Saturday night following the Pro Extreme final for the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals V.

Monster Mania @ The Norfolk Arena

October 6, 2009 - (Daventry, England) Oh what a night it really was, oh what a night…….

One thing is for sure! The new show format worked on over the summer by the Monster Mania team WORKED!! Playing to the biggest crowd we have ever seen at the Arena, the atmosphere was electric.

The new fast paced Monster Mania show was an immediate hit with the fans in attendance, some of whom had travelled from as far away as Essex and Durham!! Lights, cameras (we video taped the entire event) and ACTION was the cry of the night.

Monster trucks, Bolddogs FMX Team and Terry Grant, all add up to one thing ACTION. The new format saw the trucks performing in front of the crowds for more time than usual. This meant that the fans were all delighted as monster trucks is what they had come to see.

In the necessary cool down periods, both Terry Grant and the Bolddogs team did us proud with electrifying displays ( I personally think it was one of the best I have ever seen from Terry) with non stop excitement. I mean when the finally for the Bolddogs is a 75ft back flip over terry Grants car ON TOP of the freestyle ramp, what more can you ask???

So the BIGFOOT® monster had to take part in a wheelie contest, doughnut contest, head to head racing and a freestyle finale. I felt we had the wheelie contest covered but the crowd thought otherwise. Onto the doughnut and this had to be a BIGFOOT staple, this is our signature move, but no once again we lost out on the vote.

But racing is what we do best, and it has to be said that with the fastest qualifying time and a clear win in the final, BIGFOOT #17 owned the racing - becoming the 2009 EMTRC Racing Champions!!! At last one in the bag.. Freestyle saw us have some small motor niggles causing some spectacular flames out of the headers (see Lisa’s pictures) but to be fair Glen in Extreme had the votes after his huge jump over the van stack.

Anyone who thinks that it is not possible for a monster truck show to be as successful in the UK as it is in the USA should have been at the Norfolk Arena on the night of the 25th of September 2009, as they would for sure have changed their minds. Team BIGFOOT was proud to be a part of it and is looking forward to many more..

BIGFOOT - Midwest Four Wheel Drive Open House a BIG Hit!

October 3, 2009 - (Hazelwood, MO) The 3rd Annual BIGFOOT 4x4 & Midwest Four Wheel Drive Open House rocked the St. Louis area this past Saturday (9/26), as thousands of truck enthusiasts and monster truck fans from at least four states flocked to the BIGFOOT-Midwest headquarters in Hazelwood in search of good food, good times, and great monster truck action.

Presented by the Bommarito Auto Group and Doc’s Harley Davidson, the 3rd annual event gave the public the chance to get up close and personal with not one, not two, but EIGHT(8) BIGFOOT® vehicles, including BIGFOOT #1, BIGFOOT #5, the BIGFOOT SEMA Chevrolet and four of Team BIGFOOT’s race trucks. Joining the BIGFOOT fleet on display was Kurt Pfitzner’s “King Of The Hill” monster truck, show trucks from The Land of the Giants truck club, and various trucks belonging to customers and friends of Midwest Four Wheel Drive.

Not all of the monsters would remain silent however, as Rodney Tweedy in BIGFOOT #10 would square off in a car-crushing showdown at high noon against Larry Swim in the SNAKE BITE® (BIGFOOT #14) truck. Tweedy and Swim’s combined efforts had the crowd of nearly 2,000 people roaring their approval with each and every hit on the cars. With the BIGFOOT shop’s parking lot full of fans and show vehicles, the car crush was held next door in the “Bommarito Crush Zone,” which normally is a parking lot for the Bommarito Business Center.

- Click images for large version -

Just as Tweedy and Swim finished up their mid-day crush, Mother Nature decided to cut loose with a heavy downpour that persisted for the better part of an hour, if not more. This wouldn’t deter visitors to the Open House, however, as the BIGFOOT-Midwest crew opened up additional parts of the shop and showroom area for fans to take shelter from the rain. For the duration of the rainstorm, BIGFOOT drivers and crew, including BIGFOOT creator Bob Chandler and legendary BIGFOOT driver Jim Kramer, could be seen mingling with fans and signing autographs, adding a personal touch to everyone’s visit!

Once the rain subsided, the outdoor fun picked right back up, with fans enjoying an up close and personal look at the various BIGFOOT monster trucks and the many show trucks on hand. Notable sights to see included Dan Runte’s Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT #16 on display minus its body, Midwest employee Chris Ludwig’s awesome big-block powered Ford mud bog truck, and a 2009 Chevrolet 1500 customer vehicle, which was in the process of having a lift kit, wheels, and tires installed in the Midwest Four Wheel Drive garage area.

Kyle Doyle and Ross Bonar announcing a winner of one of the many prizes given away at the Open House

Throughout the afternoon, the BIGFOOT-Midwest crew gave away plenty of free prizes, including limited edition event t-shirts, a set of Firestone tires, a ride in BIGFOOT #1, and tickets to the Chaifetz Arena Monster Truck Spectacular presented by Midwest Four Wheel Drive that takes place October 17th in downtown St. Louis. And if all of that wasn’t enough….there was more car crushing action to be had!

After the strong response from the crowd during the noon car crush, and the fact that the sun was shining brightly, the BIGFOOT crew gave Rodney Tweedy and Larry Swim the thumbs up to throw down once again in the Bommarito Crush Zone. This time, however, they would be joined by BIGFOOT #15 and driver Rick Long, for a 3-truck car crush! Each driver did more than their share to wow the crowd, pummeling the four helpless autos into unrecognizable piles of scrap!

All in all the 3rd annual BIGFOOT-Midwest Open House was a rousing success, and a downright good time for everyone involved. BIGFOOT and Midwest Four Wheel Drive would like to thank the Bommarito Auto Group, Doc’s Harley Davidson, ESAB Welders, and of course THE FANS for making this event even bigger and better than last year’s. Needless to say, we can’t wait for next year!

BIGFOOT NAMED ONE OF THE “TOP 5 MARKETING VEHICLES OF ALL TIME”

September 23, 2009 - (Hazelwood, MO) BIGFOOT®, The Original Monster Truck®, was named one of the “Top 5 Marketing Vehicles of All Time” by the St. Louis-based experimental marketing firm Pro Motion. This lofty honor is certainly a feather in the cap of the monster truck industry.

Joining the BIGFOOT trucks in the top-five were the US Navy Blue Angels/US Air Force Thunderbirds (#4), the Goodyear Blimp (#3), the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile (#2), and the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdale Hitch (#1). Certainly some well-known company to be rubbing shoulders with!

Pro Motion described BIGFOOT’s place in marketing history:

“It all started in 1974 when Bob Chandler built the first BIGFOOT, right here in our own backyard, St. Louis, Missouri. It was built under a 1974 Ford F-250 body with giant Firestone flotation tires. In 1979 they added rear-wheel steering, which made parallel parking at the mall a breeze. In 1981 the famous words “Hey guys, watch THIS!” were uttered by Bob when he decided to see if he could drive BIGFOOT over a couple of old junk cars. Bob survived, and a new “sport” was born. Monster trucks are…[now] branded, promoted, and highly attended by millions every year.”  [BIGFOOT Firsts]

BIGFOOT certainly has had an impact on the automotive world over the last three and a half decades, not only spawning an entirely new form of automotive competition but also increasing the world’s awareness of and passion for the four wheel drive. Today the BIGFOOT trucks represent a number of high profile sponsors like Summit Racing Equipment and Firestone Tires, continuing a tradition of excellence on the national and international stage while keeping true to the core values that helped launch BIGFOOT’s “career” 35 years ago.

THE ROAD TO INDY PART II

September 17, 2009 - (Hazelwood, MO) For decades now, the Indy Jamboree has always been one of the best places in the Midwest to meet some of the best and most successful monster truck drivers in the business. Even drivers that aren’t competing in the field can be found nosing around the pits and sitting in the stands for the historic event. And when it comes to meeting high-profile and successful monster truck personalities, the Team BIGFOOT® pit area is going to be the hot spot all weekend long at the Indy Jamboree.

As documented in “The Road to Indy Part I”, Dan Runte and the Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT #16 will be competing on track, taking on all challengers in an effort to come from behind to win the Monster Truck Thunder Drags series title. Dan will be available throughout the weekend to sign autographs and talk with fans, both in the BIGFOOT pits and at the BIGFOOT Official Merchandise Trailer.

Joining Dan will be a pair of very unique BIGFOOT drivers, one a true living legend in the sport of monster trucks, the other a man who truly helps make Team BIGFOOT an international organization. Widely recognized as one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport, Jim Kramer will be on-hand Friday and Saturday at the Jamboree to sign autographs and chat with fans of all ages. This will be a great treat for long-time monster truck fans as well as newcomers to the sport, as Jim is undoubtedly one of the most pivotal figures in the history of monster trucks.

Team BIGFOOT is also pleased to announce that our very own international man of mystery, Nigel Morris, will be attending the Indy Jamboree as well! Nigel is the owner of L.A. Supertrux in the United Kingdom, and is the driver of the championship-winning BIGFOOT #17 monster truck. Nigel rarely gets to visit the States and has not yet gotten to attend an event, so, those looking to complete their Team BIGFOOT autograph collection, keep an eye out for our British counterpart while at the Jamboree. We’ll be sure to get Nigel’s thoughts on the entire event by the end of the weekend!

As we documented in our first update, The Original Monster Truck, BIGFOOT #1, will be at the Indy Jamboree on Friday and Saturday. And of course, what would an appearance by The Original Monster Truck be without a cameo by the man himself, BIGFOOT owner and founder, the man who started an entire industry, Bob Chandler. “Indy has always been one of my favorite events,” noted Chandler. He added that “the fans are some of the best anywhere, and the overall history behind the event makes it really special. I’m definitely looking forward to it.”

The 2009 Indy Jamboree will undoubtedly be one of the best in years, and with so many different BIGFOOT vehicles and team members present, it will be a monster truck fan’s dream come true. Make sure to stay tuned to the BIGFOOT 4X4 and Midwest Four Wheel Drive Facebook pages for live updates as the weekend draws near!

With a heated points race about to be settled, tons of monster truck history to be seen, and some of the most prominent figures in the industry all in one place, the Indianapolis Jamboree certainly is the place to be. The event is held at the historic Indiana State Fairgrounds, and runs September 18th – 20th. For more information on the event, including show times and ticket info, visit the www.familyevents.com.

CORRECTION - From Newsletter dated September 15, 2009 - In original message, it stated that the Indianapolis event was "a few weeks away". The Indianapolis event is actually THIS weekend. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

THE ROAD TO INDY PART I

September 15, 2009 - (Hazelwood, MO) With the 28th annual Indianapolis Four Wheel Jamboree Nationals this coming up weekend, the entire BIGFOOT® team is gearing up for what should prove to be one of the biggest outdoor monster truck events of the 2009 schedule.

Although Team BIGFOOT’s presence at the Indy Jamboree is clearly felt each and every year, this year will prove to be extra special for not just the hard-core monster truck fan, but the four wheel drive enthusiast as well.  The list of BIGFOOT vehicles and personalities attending Indy is long this year, which should prove to be quite a treat for the fans.

One of the leading storylines heading into Indy from a competition standpoint is the fact that Dan Runte, driver of the Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT #16 truck, sits just over 100 points out of first place in the Monster Truck Thunder Drags standings. Although most teams in the points chase would be more than happy to be sitting in second place, that simply isn’t what Runte and the BIGFOOT crew are looking for. “We’ve had a pretty good run this season at the Jamborees,” explained Runte, nearing his 20th year of driving for Team BIGFOOT. “Our stand-out weekend happened in Canfield, OH earlier this summer, when we swept the entire weekend of racing. We definitely thought we would have a leg up on the competition after that, but as we later found out, that wasn’t the case.”

The situation Runte is referring to is the subsequent announcement by the series organizers following the Canfield event that the event would not count as part of the regular points chase, and instead would be considered a non-points match race event. “I guess that was a bit frustrating, but at this point there isn’t anything to be done about it,” said Runte. “We didn’t realize that was going to be the situation, but it won’t change how we approach Indy one way or the other. At this point, we just need to head into Indy with our A-game and do the best we can. It doesn’t matter what spot we are at in points, we are running hard. Summit has us fixed up with some pretty trick go-fast parts, and we’ll definitely be taking a few different Firestone tire options to deal with the asphalt/dirt track at Indy.”

- Click images for large version -

The Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT won’t be the only truck for fans to check out in the BIGFOOT pits, as The Original Monster Truck, BIGFOOT #1, will also be on hand Friday and Saturday for fans to get up close and personal with. Adding to the already impressive roster, the BIGFOOT Chevrolet 3500HD show truck, which made its debut at the SEMA show in late 2008, will be on display Friday and Saturday as well. The truck will offer Jamboree goers the chance to witness some of the creativity and talent that the Team BIGFOOT/Midwest Four Wheel Drive shop put into what has become one of the most talked about SEMA vehicles in years. Stay tuned for “The Road to Indy Part II”, as we take a look at some of the Bigfoot drivers and personalities that will be in Indy this weekend!

With a heated points race about to be settled, tons of monster truck history to be seen, and some of the most prominent figures in the industry all in one place, the Indianapolis Jamboree certainly is the place to be. The event is held at the historic Indiana State Fairgrounds, and runs September 18th – 20th. ZOOFARI AUCTION WINNERS ENJOY RIDE IN BIGFOOT® #1

(Hazelwood, MO) Team BIGFOOT stepped up to the plate recently in support of the St. Louis Zoo, by allowing the Zoofari Auction to offer up a ride in The Original Monster Truck®, BIGFOOT #1, as part of its annual fundraising auction.  With all proceeds going to the St. Louis Zoo and the highest bidder getting to ride in BIGFOOT 1, it was a win-win for everyone!

St. Louis resident John Browers would put down the winning bid at the Zoofari Auction, earning himself a ride in the monster truck that started it all, BIGFOOT #1.  John generously opted to give up his seat in the big blue beast, however, yielding instead to his three grandchildren.  When Browers and his family showed up at the BIGFOOT shop in Hazelwood, excitement was certainly in the air, as legendary Bigfoot driver Jim Kramer greeted them upon arrival.

Standing proud on 48” tall Firestone tires, a throw-back to the early days of monster trucks, BIGFOOT #1 greeted Browers and his grandchildren, Michael, Peter, and Emily Sorio.  Hailing from New York state, it’s probably a safe bet to say that the Sorio children had never before seen anything quite like BIGFOOT #1.

- Click images for large version -

Thanks to their winning bid, the Browers and the Sorios got to enjoy a morning at BIGFOOT 4X4 Inc.’s headquarters, which included a tour of the showroom, shop, and photos with BIGFOOT #1, BIGFOOT Fastrax, and BIGFOOT #5.  The morning was then capped off by a ride in BIGFOOT #1, with Jim Kramer at the helm, which put big smiles on Michael, Peter, and Emily’s faces.

Everyone at BIGFOOT 4x4 would like to thank John Bowers and the Sorio family for their generous contribution to the St. Louis Zoo by way of the Zoofari Auction, which helps the Zoo in its efforts to save endangered species at home and around the world.  For more information on the Zoofari Auction, visit www.stlzoo.org. August 24, 2009 - We would like to welcome Kyle Doyle to the BIGFOOT family!  Kyle has been working in the monster truck industry for the past several years, and he will bring us a new and fresh perspective.  Kyle has worked for 2 different and smaller monster truck teams, working as both a crew member and a driver.  He has also been a photographer, a writer, and a webmaster, all for monster truck related media.

Kyle will be taking an active roll in updating our web news more consistently, adding more pictures and driver and truck information.  He will also be taking an active roll in Midwest Four Wheel Drive and our dealership programs, and you will probably also see him on the road!.

Once again, welcome aboard and we look forward to having you!

We created the paint scheme with the help of our graphics man, Jeff Cook, and painter, Randy Lenger.  This whole project was completed from start to finish in 2 WEEKS. Not too bad for a custom paint job!

Larry Swim - Checkered Flag Productions 2009 Champion!

April 6, 2009 - Larry Swim, in the BAD BOYS of Racing BIGFOOT® #14, and Dan Runte, in Snake Bite® #16, competed in the Checkered Flag Productions 2009 finals in Pocatello, ID this last weekend.  Larry has been the series point’s leader for most of 2009 and went into the final event Saturday night holding that lead.  Dan was not in this year’s point’s race due to other race series commitments.  His focus was to help Larry get to the finals and win the 2009 Championship!  The night started rough for Dan as he was taken out of racing in the first round.  He and Excalibur hit coming over the bus stack and Excalibur was able to recover faster and get the victory.  Larry began his first round competing against Amsoil Shock Therapy, who was in second place in the points standing.  This was the showdown of the night having first and second place race in the first round!  Larry won that round and continued on through the field taking the racing win!

Before the night’s freestyle competition, we learned that Larry and the Bad Boy BIGFOOT had already clinched the championship!  Needless to say, we were all very excited!  There was even a rumor in the pits that Larry would just lay down in freestyle.  I don’t think they know Larry very well - he went on to win the freestyle portion of the event, too!

All of the employees at BIGFOOT would like to congratulate Larry Swim on his Checkered Flag 2009 Points Championship, and we’d like to give an extra special  THANKS to all of the BIGFOOT sponsors who have stuck with us this year – we couldn’t have done it without you!

72 years and counting

March 25, 2009 - We have reached a pretty big milestone here at BIGFOOT4x4, Inc. On March 24, 2009 we celebrated the anniversaries of 3 LONG time employees:

  • Dan Runte has been with us since January of 1989 giving him 20 years of service.

  • Ron Bachmann started his career in April of 1984; this will give him 25 years of service starting next month.

  • Jim Kramer has been here forever, well maybe not, it just seems that way.  Jim has been at BIGFOOT longer than every current employee except Bob and Marilyn Chandler. Jim started in July of 1982. This will give him 27 years of service coming up in July.

Add all those years of experience up, and there is 72 years of monster trucking between these 3!

These three guys are very instrumental in the Monster Truck Industry and are almost irreplaceable here at BIGFOOT.  We would not be where we are today without these guys.  Next time you see one of them at an event, please tell them congratulations and thank them for helping to make the sport what it is today.

It was amazing that we were able to have almost every employee here to celebrate this awesome milestone (sorry Darron).  Did anyone notice our new shirt that Jeff is wearing (last guy on the right)?  They're awesome!  You can purchase them off our web-site - CLICK HERE!
